There is a surprising amount of open and public space in Marblehead with more than 12 public parks, a variety of charming beaches, and a number of protected conservation areas.

Marblehead's coast is peppered with small beaches and coves each with its own character.  Crowninshield Island, better known as Brown's Island, is a favorite spot with a good sandy beach at low tide.  Crocker Park has a public swimming float where Marbleheaders have been swimming for years.

Devereux Beach is Marblehead's largest public beach. It is a long, wide oceanfront beach with a seasonal restaurant, all-new playground equipment,  lifeguards and sanitary facilities.

A brand new community center offers new recreational opportunities and programs for the entire town of Marblehead.

Chandler Hovey Park, home of one of America's oldest continuously operating lighthouses is at the entrance to Marblehead Harbor. A wonderful location to watch the sunset and enjoy a picnic supper.

Seaside Park and Fitness Trail, where the town plays baseball, soccer and hikes to stay in shape. There are 6 lighted tennis courts. You can get a permit for just $1 at the town's Park and Recreation office in the new community center.

The town's YMCA summer day camp is located on an island - Children's Island - just outside Marblehead Harbor. Where else can a child go to camp by boat every morning on an island?

There are walking trails and bike paths throughout Marblehead. Former railroad beds that connect Marblehead to Salem and Salem Harbor, and another branch that connects Marblehead to Swampscott have been converted into beautiful, peaceful paths ideal for walking, biking and even cross-country skiing. Marblehead also has a small skateboard park supported by private donations.
