Krista’s Tour of Marblehead |

Marblehead is a town beckoning you to explore its sights and wander along its streets and byways. Even though I
walk every day, I still find new vistas and hidden gardens to enjoy.

Marblehead is "walker friendly." The downtown area has several walkways or shortcuts connecting one area of town to
another. One of my favorite shortcuts is the path leading down from Lookout Court to Lee Street. The houses along
the pathway are beautiful and the views out over Crocker Park and the harbor are wonderful.

Old Burial Hill is a special treasure. Only
in Marblehead would you think to have a picnic in a graveyard! It's a remarkable setting with a spectacular
panoramic view encompassing antique houses, a delightful pond and the ocean in the distance. The inscriptions on
the tombstones are fascinating to read and tell us a bit about earlier settlers in the town. |

Offering views of the North
Shore and overlooking Marblehead harbor, Fort Sewall stirs the spirit and the soul. This is the fort which offered
the USS Constitution — Old Ironsides — safe harbor when she was
being chased by two British ships. When I first moved to Marblehead, I would take a cup of coffee up to the
Fort and just savor the beauty, thinking "Wow! This is my neighborhood!"
Years later, I feel the same way.

Washington Square is
filled with history. Lafayette trained troops on the green! The houses on the Square are a storybook representation
of New England architecture.
